Planned gifts to Lancaster General Health

Harshadkumar and Sudhaben Patel Supporting Families Through Gift Planning

Harshadkumar and Sudhaben PatelDr. Harshadkumar Patel’s connection to Lancaster General Health spans decades. As former medical director and chief of pulmonary associates, he remains closely tied to the LG Health community—attending alumni events and cherishing friendships with former colleagues. Together with his wife Sudhaben, Dr. Patel chose to honor that connection through a planned gift to the Lancaster General Health Foundation.

The Patels directed their support to the AngelEye Camera System in the Women & Babies Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This technology allows parents to stay virtually connected to their infants during critical moments of healing. “We were inspired by the emotional need of parents to stay in contact with their infants,” Dr. Patel explains. “That connection fulfills an essential need for families whose children are in the hospital.”

Working with the Foundation team helped guide the Patels toward an area of impact that resonated deeply with their values while also simplifying the giving process. Their gift was made through an IRA required minimum distribution (RMD)—a straightforward way to give back that fit their circumstances.

Their recent visit to the NICU was the cherry on top. Seeing the AngelEye system in action and walking past the hospital’s Wall of Hope, filled with photos of NICU babies who have grown into healthy children, left them deeply moved. “It gave us a feeling of satisfaction,” Sudhaben reflects. The Patels feel fortunate to have helped provide families with a meaningful connection during what can be an anxious beginning for their babies.
